The Sea in Relentless Pursuit

An empty vessel
Tiny boat
Battered and cast adrift
Rolled over and righted
In a momentary sense of balance
And then
The waves crash down
Splitting it in two
Rendering it to splinters
That stab at
What’s left
And then
When the sea calms
The fragments bob
In a meandering fashion
Useless pieces swallowed whole
